Projects in Ticino

The Ceresio Foundation supports various entities and projects both operationally and financially:

Projects

The Red Cross in Ticino has a cantonal mandate to manage collective centers for asylum seekers. Unaccompanied minors (without families) are hosted in two centers.

  • The Foundation, in collaboration with other Foundations linked to the Ticino Foundation Network, finances summer activities and winter colonies for about 70 unaccompanied minor refugees. Furthermore, the Foundation supports the management of the centers in solving various problems.

The project is seen as an aid to study with trained and supervised volunteers. The aim is to help them better exploit their potential by collaborating directly with schools. The families of the children are also involved in other activities in order to improve their integration.

  • The Foundation contributes to fostering moments of encounter for mothers with children, the acquisition of minimal language skills and knowledge of customs and traditions through Italian courses and the constant support of families.

Tavolino Magico deals with the collection of foodstuffs in excess or expiring in supermarkets, at production or agricultural companies and the subsequent redistribution of food to needy people throughout Switzerland (about 130 distribution centers).

  • In addition to financing the purchase and maintenance of food transport vans, the Foundation has been supporting the Tavolino Magico management team for several years in developing an effective strategy to save and redistribute as much food as possible.

Sostare is a non-profit organization of SOS Ticino that deals with professional and social integration in the catering sector (30 young people in training, retraining and job placement programs). The project consists of training and apprenticeships at the La Casa del Popolo Restaurant in Bellinzona and at other training companies.

  • The foundation supports Sostare funding social and school support for three apprentices.

The Association Il Tragitto promotes social integration through socialization and meeting activities, Italian language school and support for families.
Users are mainly migrants, mostly mothers with children up to 3-4 years old.

  • The Foundation's contribution is mainly intended to rent the premises useful for the activities.

It is a free music promotion initiative, aimed at children of all social and economic backgrounds and applied in schools in the less affluent neighborhoods of Lugano. The course attendance, once the contract is signed, becomes mandatory (two / three weekly lessons), and aims to improve the overall performance of children, which over time prove to be highly motivated (thanks to the increase in self-esteem, social integration and education for beauty in general).

  • The Foundation funds Superar to allow all children to constantly engage in a constructive musical activity.

The Vincentian volunteers work alongside individual people and entire families who are going through difficult times with constant support through a listening center and home visits.

  • The Foundation supports the Vincentian Volunteers for the financing of their aid interventions in the presence of critical situations.

The Center, founded in 1908 with the name "Culla Arnaboldi", is the "mother" of all childhood centers in terms of experience, specialization and training of nursery schools. The Center, which has 30 places for children sent by social services and 30 for autonomous family decisions, provides assistance to children aged 0 to 6 and manages critical family situations.

  • The Foundation has financed the fees of various children and has joined La Culla in the long process of administrative and budget reorganization.
